No-Nonsense Release Notes
27-jul-2017
- Paperclip, which is a branch of Spigot, is now being used as the server engine instead of Spigot. It handles hoppers in a much more intelligent way and is more aggressive about unloading chunks that aren't in use. The server has been running much smoother since this change was made.
- Several new dungeons and bosses: The Foul Cellar, The Mythic Chicken, Tainted Swamp, Glenham's Retreat, Temple of the Flames, the Abandoned Keep, and the Barrow of the Forgotten.
- The Foul Cellar and Infected city feature a limited-time chest which contains extra loot but imposes a time limit on getting that loot.
- The Foul Cellar features a unique mechanic that preserves your inventory upon entering and returns it upon leaving. Books of keeping are not consumed while in this dungeon.
- Opening the limited chest can be sponsored by buying a special loot crate at spawn.
- The Salt Mines dungeon is now considerably easier.
- The Spider mom will now teleport to her spawn location if she starts to suffocate in a wall.
- There's now a hell hound in Firetop Mountain.
- Salt bears drop much more experience than before. Hopefully enough to sustain armor via the mending enchantment.
- Boss keys are now awarded to the MVP, which is the player who dealt the most damage.
- Ender Dragon is now tougher and has its own treasure chest.
- Three new spirit stones have been added! The spirit stone of damage reduction is used on armor and reduces damage by 2% per stone. The spirit stone of attack speed increases the number of attacks by 0.1s second per stone. The spirit stone of attack damage increases the base damage dealt by a weapon by 0.2 per stone.
- At fixed increments for Hero Points and Base Points, a new item called a stone token becomes available. These tokens can be exchanged at spawn for spirit stones.
- New special books have been added to spawn. One will dig out the entirety of a chunk. One slabs the entirety of a chunk. And one will simply remove a single pane of stained glass--works anywhere but intended to make glassless gates.
- Zombies in Infected City no longer pick up items.
- Player inventory is now examined for /worth calculations.
- Dungeon chests now contain rune stones. Rune stones work in the same manner as tarot cards, but they are redeemed with Viking Vifil instead of Medium Maegen, which results in an Amethyst payout.
- Topaz and amethyst can be traded to get the official server currency: Trade Tokens.
- Most spawn trades have been updated to use Trade Tokens.
- Topaz and Amethyst catalysts exist, which are items that increase the number of Topaz or Amethyst received from trading with Maegen of Vifil. Consumed on use.
- A precious gem transmuter has been added that will cause Vifil to give topaz instead of amethyst and Maegen to give amethyst instead of topaz. Consumed on use.
- The daily free chests for Tarot cards and Rune Stones can only be opened if you have at least 15 minutes of gameplay under your belt since the last time you opened the chest.
- A new type of villager trade mechanic for admin villagers has been added that allows trades based upon certain qualifiers, such as hero points and base points.
- The time a player has been away is announced if that time is greater than a week.
- Only one elder guardian will spawn at a time in a given pool of water.
- Spawn has new bee friends!
- A Hero point bonus system has been added. As you collect hero points, a bonus accumulates, growing exponentially up to 500 bonus points. You can claim that bonus at any time at spawn with /claim, but you're better rewarded if you let it grow for as long as you are able to stand it. If you die, the bonus disappears and you start over at zero.
- Hero points have been removed from the normal chests scattered about dungeons. These chests now simply contain "run keys" and possibly a bit of treasure.
- Hero points are gained only from Treasure, Completion, and Boss chests.
- Redeeming a Hero Point bonus in the Foul Cellar Treasure room gives an extra 50%.
- Run keys have a unique number assigned to them that represent the run of the dungeon, which is the typically one-week period from when you opened the first chest in the dungeon. After the week, when the chests reset, the number assigned to the run keys will increment, making the keys from the previous week's run worthless. This mechanic exists to prevent opening the completion chest by waiting a week and getting easier keys.
- If there are more than 128 animals in view distance, the excess no longer just get sick as a warning. They die.
- Mobs which push a lot of other mobs around are despawned.
- Loot crates have been added as a way of dispensing loot. Click the crate in the air and all the goodies contained within will fall out.
- Rejoice for /reward letter and number horders! You can smelt them and get creosote. You can trade creosote in for a Creosote Loot Crate.
- Keys can be smelted to obtain Key Slag. Key slag can be traded at spawn for a Key Slag Loot Crate.
- Epic treasures have been added, which can occasionally be found in treasure chests or loot crates. They have no purpose other than adding to /worth.
- Disrespect points are being tracked... Disrespect points are earned when you're not AFK but choose not to /f.
- Gates will not let you pass if monsters are pursuing you.
- Trying to use a gate if a monster can see you will cause that monster to begin to track you.
- Special drops, such as mob hearts, eggs, spirit stones, and keys now show the player's name and other players cannot pick them up.

More mob hearts can be used to enchant a purified stone into something that is to your liking. The mob hearts are aggressively resistant against any form of automated or assisted farming. This is done by increasing or decreasing a villager's internal pool of emeralds until he has no more to give or so many that he doesn't want any more, and locks relevant trades accordingly.
